POLO FILMS® SERVICE POLICY FOR THE FOREIGN MARKET
In order to streamline our services for understanding and meeting our customers' needs and expectations,
Polo Films introduces its Service Policy.
Polo Films’ Bioriented Polypropylene Films (BOPP), as a high-tech industrial application product,
require careful handling, shipping and storage in order to provide a suitable performance during its use.
In order to ensure the films are meeting your expectations, we recommend reading those suggestions on
use.
A) BOPP FILM STORAGE CONDITIONS
- The delivered rolls should be handled and stored in the original packaging until of processed.
The external stretch film on the pallet and any kind of protection wrapping the BOPP film,
should remain on the pallet until it is ready for use in production;
- Shocks and piercing by objects should be avoided, mainly on the roll sides, since they might
cause deformations or even make the material useless;
- Ensure the proper hygiene and cleaning for the material;
- Rolls shall not be superimposed (stacked one on top of the other), in the horizontal position
without the side support that holds them suspended in order to prevent material deformation and
blocking;
- Always pack the material on the pallet, thus preventing exposure to dust and moisture. Excessive
moisture could cause blocking or film breakage during production process;
- Avoid exposing the rolls to excessive heat or cold. Ideal storage and stock conditions are: room
temperature between 10°C (50ºF) and 30°C (86ºF) and air relative humidity above 50%.
Note: In case the storage temperature exceeds 30°C (86ºF), the film may develop the
following problems:
- Decreased treatment (dynes) reducing the adhesion of inks and varnishes to the treated side,
therefore not keeping the conversion capacity applied on the film surface;
- Reduction coefficient of friction, thus rendering the film too much slippery for control
during its use;
- The film becomes ?opaque, cloudy?;
- Reduction of film Brightness and Transparency;
- Increased occurrence of blocking at the edges and inside the roll due to excessive additive
migration;
- The surface way show white powder.
B) DAMAGES CAUSED BY TRANSPORT
When receiving the film, if damages caused by transport were identified, please take some photos at the
material reception and e-mail them together with the Commercial Invoice number, for duly review of the
carrier.
C) QUALITY CONTROL
- Use the material preferably within six (6) months from the invoice date. This term includes the
term of validity of the film surface treatment. After the term is expired, Polo Films will not
accept claims;
- Before using the material, the customer shall check if it matches with the application, as well as
which side has received the treatment, according the roll identification label. Checking the
treated side and the treatment level is important for the suitable fixation of inks, adhesives and
varnishes on the film.
- On metalized films, avoid excessive friction on the metalized side, since it might cause the
detachment of the metal deposited on the film surface;
- Avoid exposing metalized films to sunlight and excessive moisture, since the metal surface
might undergo oxidation and loss of surface quality during use.
- When cutting the material, use cutting equipment and blades suitable for cutting BOPP,
according to the procedures stated by the machine manufacturer.
- BOPP rolls shall be sent to the area where the material is to be used in production with some
time in advance, so the film can be conditioned to the environment where it will be used. During
winter and/or dry-weather periods, this time interval shall be at least 24 hours.
D) GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR CLAIMS:
- Polo Films reserves the right of evaluating the material, searching the technical origin of the
problem and the solution of non-conformity and, therefore, not accepting any total or partial
return of the supplied material, without having met the previous conditions.
- If the material, within the term of validity, shows some non-conformity, the customer shall
immediately report this to Polo Films.
- Non- conforming rolls shall be separated until the end of the evaluation by Polo Films, and they
cannot be disposed, under the risk of not having the claim process approved;
- In case the non-conformity is proven, Polo Films will be responsible only for the nonconforming
amount of BOPP, and it will not make indemnifications for labor, processed
materials, equipment and accessories damaged in their film conversion processes.
- In case the claim is valid, the indemnification shall be provided in accordance with the physical
amount of the non-conforming material (BOPP), reported at the beginning of the process and in
the same version of the claimed film.
- All and any claim or dissatisfaction related to Polo Films? products and services is preceded by a
communication to the sales area and/or Technical Assistance Services, preferably by e-mail, fax,
telephone or website through our ?Contact Us?.
- The claim shall be sent together with key references in order to support the understanding of the
non-conformance, and it shall include:
- Commercial Invoice Number (EXT);
- Purchase Order Numbers;
- Roll numbers;
- Amount claimed;
- Reason for Claim.
- With this information in hand, we will perform the analyses and traceability for the claim
diagnose and, whenever necessary and/or possible, a technical visit will be made for the material
auditing, or even, samples will be requested for analysis.
- No potential indemnification is granted without having the process completed, from the diagnose
to the problem, sample collection and/or material auditing and from by root cause analysis of the
corrective / preventive action plan (CPAP) and the claim approval.
- Polo Films responsibility shall be limited, in any claim event whatever, to a loss or damage of
maximum the purchase value of the film sold by it.
Sincerely,
Polo Indústria e Comércio Ltda.
